Our Story

Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Papakura is a spiritual home for the Sikh community in South Auckland, New Zealand. Established five years ago, our Gurdwara has become a vibrant center for daily prayers, Sikh teachings, and community services.

Located at 7/46 Broadway, Papakura, Auckland 2110, the Gurdwara welcomes Sangat from all walks of life. Our mission is to uphold the core values of Sikhi — Seva (selfless service), Simran (meditation), and Sangat (community). We offer a peaceful space for reflection, learning, and spiritual connection, guided by the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The Gurdwara hosts weekly Sunday programs, Gurpurab celebrations, Akhand Paath Sahib, and Kirtan Diwans. Our Langar hall is open to all, serving free vegetarian meals with love and humility. We also support the local community through events, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities.

In recent years, we have embraced technology by introducing Facebook Live streams, allowing the global Sangat to join our programs from afar. We are also committed to youth involvement, encouraging the next generation to engage through seva, kirtan, and cultural education.

Feel free to contact us at 09 298 5905 or visit us during our regular programs to be part of our growing community.

Our Mission

Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Papakura is dedicated to nurturing spiritual growth, community unity, and selfless service (Seva) within the Sangat. We aim to strengthen the connection to Sikhi by promoting daily remembrance of Waheguru, respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and service to humanity. Our mission is to create a welcoming space where everyone—regardless of background—can come together to pray, learn, serve, and grow in the spirit of Sikhi.

To be a beacon of Sikh values in Aotearoa (New Zealand), fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and spiritually connected community. We envision a Gurdwara that not only serves as a house of worship but also as a centre for learning, cultural preservation, youth engagement, and social support. Through education, outreach, and collective Seva, we strive to inspire the next generation and build a future grounded in equality, compassion, and Chardi Kala (ever-rising spirit).
